First Unitarian offers many opportunities for adults to pick up new skills or expand their understanding of spiritual and theological meaning. Presented as one-time workshops, regular group meetings or multi-week classes, there's something for everyone.
For more information about upcoming offerings, download our Adult RE Guide (available soon). Register online or stop by the RE table to reserve your place for any of the following. Classes and events for Fall of 2012 will include:
Rise Up and Call Her Name (Sundays, 12:45-2:15 pm; Sept. 23, Oct. 28, Nov. 25, and Dec. 23): A "Women-honoring journey into Global Earth-based Spiritualities." It is a curriculum that honors feminine deities from cultures around the world. We have journeyed around the world and are finishing our journey in the fall by journeying back to the Americas with two sessions devoted to Native Americans. We will be meeting for four Sundays, on the fourth Sunday of each month through December (with possible adjustments due to the holidays). All are welcome. Register online here. Co-facilitators: Dorothy Crticher and Janice Zimmerman.
Caring For Our Own At Death: Home Funerals and Green Burial (Oct. 21, 12:45-2:30pm) A presentation and open discussion about bringing the care of the dead back into our own hands as thousands of generations have done throughout history. Our presenters, Penny McDougal and Shelley Morhaim have researched the issues for the Maryland General Assembly, and have participated in many educational forums, as well as home funerals and green burials for loved ones. Find out how this healing and authentic process can both honor the life of the one who has died and comfort the bereaved. Register online here.
First at First meets the first Sunday of each month and features a selection of classes or groups after worship. All are welcome to join any group, whether an ongoing or one-time class. Bring your own lunch to enjoy before class. Groups will meet from 1 to 2:30 pm. Ongoing groups include the Dream Group, Knitting Circle, Music Appreciation, and Reading Discussion. No registration is needed, drop in to the group of your choice. For an updated list of offerings, visit the RE-Connect blog.
